Couple Highlight: Danielle and Kristen

Every couple that comes through our doors has a unique energy and love that we have the privilege of getting to witness through our time with them. With each love story we get to see blossom, we are reminded of why we do what we do. One special couple that we’ve had the pleasure of getting to know is this beautiful pair, Danielle and Kristen! They were not only kind enough to leave us a lovely review, they were willing to share more about their relationship and their time with us. We’re ecstatic to get to share their story and what drew them both to Ramble Creek and each other.

Their Story began Simply…

Upon inquiring about how they initially met, they wrote, “We met on Twitter after being in a group chat through an old friend. We did long distance for over a year before Danielle moved to Ohio to be with Kristen!” While doing relationships long distance and long term is a scary thought to some people, Danielle and Kristen’s story shows that it only takes patience, dedication, and love. “We grew really close during Covid when flights were cheap,” Danielle explained further how they were able to power through largely being separated, saying “We got to spend a lot of time together until we decided we didn’t want to be long distance anymore!” Of all the bad that Covid brought, it’s always refreshing to hear beautiful stories that came out of trying that time!

One might expect challenges with planning a same-sex wedding in Tennessee, though this wasn’t an issue for Danielle and Kristen.

When inquiring about any struggles the pair faced, Danielle was happy to report that, “Thankfully there weren’t challenges being a same sex couple! The hardest part was having an out-of-town wedding, when all of our friends and family were out-of-town as well. Luckily, Ramble Creek made that so much easier!” While the classic Tennessean conservative cultural undertones may be intimidating to LGBTQ+ couples, a lot of this is based on continuing stereotypes that Ramble Creek seeks to counter!

As for what led this couple to brave the distance and choose ramble creek…

One should never judge a book by its cover, but first impressions do go a long way. Our first impression meant a lot to Danielle and Kristen, as what initially drew them to our venue was “how BEAUTIFUL the property and Grand Hall is!” Taking a leap of faith and choosing to have a destination wedding can often be stressful as people try to imagine the logistics of working with multiple vendors from long distance, but that’s not the case with Ramble Creek. “We wanted something that was pretty much all-inclusive. Being out of town, we didn’t want to have to contact a ton of vendors for our wedding day needs. We did use a few of our own vendors, but the ones we used through RC were phenomenal.”

And as for their BREATHTAKING bridal photos taken after the storm…

Through all of the trials and tribulations this couple have faced, they voiced, “Being a long distance, same sex couple was challenging in a few different ways. From the obvious missing each other, to having varying opinions on our relationship. We have really grown together as a couple and I think the rainbow is a beautiful reminder that there is beauty after every storm!”

we asked them to share any Tips they have for other same-sex couples planning their wedding…

Something that the couple put a lot of thought into was who they were catering to and who was catering to them… They advised, “Make sure that all of your vendors and guests are truly accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. It is YOUR day, and you want to be able to totally be yourself. Do what is best for you, even if that means not inviting certain people or not doing what may be considered traditional. Whether you have 50 or 500 people there, the only two that truly matter are you TWO!”

WHEN ASKED what resources truly helped them…

Their advice is clear and simple, in that one should just “Do your research! Searching hash tags is really helpful and reading as many reviews as possible. Have phone consults and go with your gut!” In a world that so heavily revolves around social media and internet, Danielle and Kristen have learned to use that to their advantage. By understanding what you’re looking for in a venue and where to look, information regarding venues and services have become even more accessible! Being thorough is also important in this regard.

What comes next for this perfect pair?

With distance between one another no longer being an issue, they now plan to travel and explore together! They’re looking forward to “lots of fun travel, and hopefully buying a house! We’re hoping to go to Costa Rica!”

We are so grateful to Kristen and Danielle for choosing to celebrate their precious love for each other at our venue in East Tennessee. It is a gift that keeps on giving when we think of how our team has the honor of partaking in outstandingly beautiful days like theirs.
